Nusrat heads Jammu-based Petals & Ferns, an organization that grows cut flowers and flower seeds under Hi-Tech poly homes and in open cultivation. Petals & Ferns sells these flowers through both the retail and wholesale channels, across Jammu and neighboring states.
Being the first woman entrepreneur in floriculture from the state, Nusrat faced heavy odds in terms of acquiring seed funding for the initiative and winning social support. Building a transportation and logistical channel that understood the perishable nature of the goods she dealt in also added to her challenges. However, growing the organization from a Rs 30,000 enterprise that today has a turnover of over Rs 35 lacs is a clear indication that Petals & Ferns is blossoming.
