Charuta’s Maherwat is an organization which is a home away from home for the elderly. It offers complete residential facilities, nutritious food and medical attention, entertainment and social immersion in a homely environmentfounded on love, care and compassion. The organization prides itself on its ability to take care of elderly with special needs such as immobility, Alzheimer’s, dementia and mental instability.
The idea of Maherwat was born when one of Charuta’s close relatives were abandoned by their family. The organization faced financial problems as charging the elderly was not feasible as most of them did not have any financial security. With her family pitching in for cooking, cleaning, caring for the elderly and managing accounts, Charuta was able to establish Maherwat as a ‘home, away from home’.
