TiE Stree Shakti Mumbai organised an offsite to Pune and Aurangabad on 12th April to meet women entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds.

TiE met Prithvi, an NGO led by Sharmila Shaligram and her daughter Aishwarya in Pune, which conducts activities in about 20 villages in the district of Ahmednagar. Prithvi works on rural development through five programs touching on Health, Women, Land, Environment and Technology.


In Aurangabad, TiE addressed a group of nearly 30 women entrepreneurs and NGOs. These meetings were attended by a range of enthusiastic and successful women entrepreneurs, involved in diverse enterprises like waste management, manufacturing, social entrepreneurship and even running a bakery.

From employing 200 people and a having a turnover of Rs 35 crores, running the most successful Poli bhaji centre in Aurangabad, providing quality medical service in 32 villages, setting up health and IT training centres, to running a Government of India recognised clean tech waste management business, for these ladies the only way to go is, up! .

Amongst the noteworthy women entrepreneurs were Varsha Kanade who manufactures amla products for 100 shops in Aurangabad and Anjali Deshpande whose printing factory; Renu Printers has a turnover of Rs 3 crores and employs 30 people. These are a few on the many examples of successful women entrepreneurs TiE Stree Shakti addressed during these meets.

One thing is clear women are exploring entrepreneurship as never before and they are enjoying the fruits of their success.
